Implementation of the MCIS MES system JSC "Proton"-PM

Customers: JSC "Proton"-PM

Contractors: SITEK Group (SITEK)
Product: MCIS (Motion Control Information System)

Project date: 2011/02

The pilot project of system implementation of operational production management, specially developed Siemens AG company for discrete production, approached the main working stage delivery of the model on JSC "Proton"-PM, one of the largest enterprises of the space-rocket industry of the Russian Federation.

The department of implementation of MES of SITEK LLC company (SITEK Group) which is the certified Competence Center of Siemens in the field of production management systems in mechanical engineering, and the Russian enterprise JSC "Proton"-PM implemented the next stage of the project, having completed on December 23, 2010 system development by successful delivery of a test example on the MCIS model (Motion Control Information System). The project is directed to increase in effective management of production processes, ensuring scheduling and transparency of production by implementation of continuous automatic status monitoring of technology equipment and production in general, performance review, management of maintenance and technology of processing of parts. Within creation of the unified information system of MCIS on JSC "Proton"-PM (Perm Motors) three modules will be implemented: MDA (collection of data on a condition of equipment and productions), DNC (administration of programs and data of the CNC), TPM (management of maintenance of the equipment). The demonstration model of an information system included the MCIS server and the equipment imitating the real equipment of the Customer working under control of industrial SIMATIC controllers and the systems of numerical control of Sinumerik 840D of Siemens company.

The beginning of work on the project became possible thanks to the announced tender for implementation of a pilot project of a MES system which in 2010 won the industrial holding "SITEK" which started works on implementation of MCIS. Specialists of department of MES and the APS systems of holding have successful experience over large projects, both in the territory of Russia, and in the CIS countries. The agreement on implementation of a pilot project on creation of an information system based on MCIS in one of production workshops of the enterprise was signed. Within the agreement preproject examination of all metalworking equipment equipped with the Sinumerik 840D CNC systems, which was purchased by the enterprise since 2007 within "The program of modernization of production" as which initiator the CEO JSC "Proton"-PM Arbuzov Igor Aleksandrovich acted is conducted.

"The aerospace industry has important political and economic value, the industrial capacity and prestige of the state is defined by it. Acceptance of effective management decisions in modern production requires complex interaction of financial and economic and production components. JSC "Proton"-PM is one of the most important directions of development creation of an information system of the class ERP, improvement of the management system of the enterprise providing the operational solution of all range of tasks today. We hope that the MCIS system integrated SITEK ─ successfully will help to solve these problems Semyonov Vitaly Anatolyevich, the deputy CEO for development and information technologies commented. ─ "All preparatory work is carried out now, acceptance of the functional model is executed. The next step, within the agreement, provides system deployment directly on the equipment, as will be executed during the near future".

"According to technical specifications it was required to implement monitoring of the current operation of the equipment and formation of a number of analytical reports, control of implementation of maintenance of the equipment and control of observance of requirements of parameters of processing. According to the listed requirements at this stage there takes place implementation of the modules MDA, DNC, TPM. As plans for the future is an expansion of functionality of a system, its scaling and implementation of connection with the implemented Enterprise resource planning of SAP R3, ─ the chief engineer JSC "Proton"-PM Shchenyatsky Dmitry Valeryevich noted.

For the last years Russia holds a half of the world market of starting services. As of August 1, 2010 9 start-up of carrier rockets of production "State Research and Production Space Center of M.V. Khrunichev" are performed. These are 7 start-up of carrier rockets JSC "Proton" as a result of which 9 spacecrafts were put to orbit: 5 spacecrafts "Intelsat-16", "Echostar-14", "AMC-4R" (SES-1), "Arabsat-5B" (BADR-5), "Echostar-15" for the benefit of the foreign customer; 3 GLONASS spacecrafts for the benefit of deployment of the satellite grouping of the same name; 1 spacecraft for the benefit of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation; 1 start-up of the carrier rocket Rokot as a result of which the Japanese Servis-2 spacecraft is put to orbit; 1 start-up of the carrier rocket "Space-3M" as a result of which the spacecraft for the benefit of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation was put to orbit.

Reliability in everything

According to Alexey Egorov, the head of the NSI group of the JSC "Proton" — Perm Motors enterprise where along with propulsion systems for carrier rockets JSC "Proton" parts and nodes of rocket RD-191 engines are made for new family of the carrier rockets "Angara" and components of the Ural gas plants, crisis was the catalyst of upgrade of internal business processes.

Events of the end of 2008 laid the foundation for two large-scale projects at the JSC "Proton" — Perm Motors enterprise: to the implementation of a complex of the SAP solutions ERP and SAP ERP HCM calculated on the next three years and also the MCIS MES systems of Siemens company.

The insufficient regulation of business processes which is not corresponding to strategic plans a subsystem of operational production planning and accounting of course of production, lack of a single platform of the existing automated information systems led the management to the solution to implement the unified information system. The implementation project of a MES system is directed to increase in effective management of production processes, ensuring scheduling and transparency of production. Implementation of MES-and ERP systems demanded active involvement of consultants. "Considerable time leaves on understanding of the business logic put in the ERP system, and involvement of consultants significantly accelerates process. At implementation of a MES system we also should rely in many respects on experience of our partners from SITEK company. Unfortunately, the enterprises of the industry did not ripen for MES systems yet, and real experiment on implementation of such systems in the market is not enough" — Egorov explains features of project implementation.

Integration of these systems will allow the enterprise to increase efficiency of management decisions due to interaction of financial and economic and production components. But these projects are considered not only as the method of optimization of a management system aimed at ensuring financial stability but also as a method of reliability augmentation of the company, as an opportunity to receive the effective tool for business in the conditions of globalization of economy.
