2025: Application Initiation
At the end of May 2025, it became known that the Russian military began to use the Dan-M unmanned aerial vehicle, a feature of which is a high flight speed. Drone power plant is made on the basis of jet engine.
According to "Military Review," the new drone was built on the base of the air target "Dan." It is designed to simulate remotely manned aircraft, cruise missiles and subsonic tactical aircraft during combat training of troops and tests of various weapons systems.
"Dan-M" can reach speeds up to 750 km/h: this is more than four times the indicator of kamikaze drones "Geran," which fly at speeds up to 170 km/h. The basic version of the "Dan" apparatus has a length of 4.6 meters and a wingspan of 2.7 meters. Take-off mass is about 350 kg. The drone is capable of flying at altitudes from 50 meters to 9 kilometers. The maximum duration of stay in the air reaches 40 minutes.
"Military Review" notes that the parts of the engine of the drone "Dan-M" are made using 3D printing technologies. According to experts, the use of the device can complicate the work of enemy air defense systems, since the Dan-M combines the speed of a jet aircraft and the stealth of a drone.
The usual "Tribute" target is designed for repeated use. The launch is carried out from a ground launcher using a powder accelerator, landing - by parachute on a special inflatable structure. The equipment includes a flight control system and telemetry equipment. Target is made according to normal aerodynamic scheme with direct mid wing and turbojet engine.[1]
