2025: Launch of vertical strawberry farms where crops are controlled by drones
At the end of May 2025, it became known that 4D Bios had integrated drones artificial intelligence with into its vertical strawberry farms. Drones help monitor plant health and determine the optimal time to harvest.
According to 4D Bios, intelligent vertical farms allow you to produce high-quality strawberries all year round. The necessary microclimate is supported indoors. Drip irrigation and lighting systems with a specially selected spectrum are used. The fruit does not contain pesticides, and pollination is carried out by bees.
Special unmanned aerial vehicles moving inside farms perform several functions. In particular, thanks to onboard cameras and multispectral sensors, drones detect the slightest changes in the state of plants, which makes it possible to detect pests and diseases 24 hours earlier than with traditional methods. In addition, algorithms based on artificial intelligence are able to predict the best time for fruit collection. This improves efficiency and ensures stable supply.
Drones can move neatly between dense rows of strawberries. High-resolution visualization combined with machine learning allows the system to form a comprehensive picture of the state of the farm. This significantly reduces the burden on employees and minimizes errors associated with the human factor.
4D Bios emphasizes that the entire process of growing seedlings, planting, harvesting, sorting and packaging is carefully monitored. Thanks to the optimal conditions on the farm, ultra-high yields are achieved. Red and white strawberries are supplied to the market.[1]
