2025: Moving IT Infrastructure to the Cloud

Kamkor Lokomotiv and Kamkor Wagon (Republic of Kazakhstan) have transferred IT infrastructures and 1C services to the cloud. The technological partner of the project was Kit-Systems, which implemented a number of similar projects for large enterprises of transport and machine building. Kit Systems announced this on June 24, 2025.

In connection with the change of ownership of Kamkor Lokomotiv and Kamkor Wagon and their transfer to the management company Kamkor Transport Technologies, it became necessary to transfer the IT infrastructure. This included the separation of information systems and services that previously functioned within a single corporate environment.

The integrator team quickly designed and deployed IT infrastructure for both companies in IaaS, including domain controllers, file services, business applications, information security tools, and a number of other systems. In parallel, work was underway to configure and test 1C systems in the cloud. Due to competent planning, migration took only two days off and did not affect the business processes of organizations: employees' access to services was not interrupted, and their transfer to the IaaS model went unnoticed.

Central offices are connected to the provider's data center through Site-to-Site IPSec tunnels, which provide end-to-end access to all services in the cloud infrastructure. Remote offices are enabled using OpenVPN using a service model that allows you to apply policies broadcast by domain controllers and the antivirus management server.

Throughout the project, Kit-Systems engineers supported customer specialists in the configuration of workplace equipment, and upon completion they helped determine the candidate for the position of chief system administrator. Today, as part of a service contract, the integrator provides infrastructure support and monitoring, as well as checking the speed of recovery of services from backups.

Further evolution of the solution provides for the introduction of advanced information security tools for building a perimeter protection system at each remote site based on NGFW. It is also planned to upgrade the network infrastructure to provide reliable data protection at customer headquarters and peripherals.

In a short time, it was necessary to organize a virtual infrastructure from scratch to connect more than 1,000 users to a single cloud, located on 20 geographically distributed sites. Until that moment, there were no comparable cases in terms of volume and complexity in our practice. However, thanks to the accumulated design expertise and high customer engagement, we overcame the numerous difficulties of quickly deploying access to services in the cloud platform, simultaneously automating a number of related business processes, - said Sergey Astakhov, head of the infrastructure department of the Kit-Systems technical directorate.
