Career

1992-2024

From 1992 to 2006, he held various positions at OJSC Korshunovsky GOK, having gone from assistant driver to general director. Then he moved to the position of Managing Director of OJSC Yuzhny Kuzbass, and in 2008 he took the post of General Director of OJSC Mechel-Mining. From 2009 to 2017, he worked as managing director of JSC HC Yakutugol. After that, he served as Deputy General Director of UK Mechel-Mining LLC - Director of the Mining Assets Department of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), General Director of UK Mechel-Mining LLC, as well as General Director of Severnaya Zvezda LLC.

2025: Appointment as CEO of Mechel

On June 30, 2025, the Russian mining and metallurgical company Mechel announced the appointment of a new general director. It was Igor Khafizov, who had previously acted as the first deputy general director of Mechel.
