Tambov Regional Sales Company JSC has begun active testing of the transfer of 1C databases from MS SQL to the domestic Postgres Pro SQL database management system running the Red OS operating system. This step is part of a large-scale software import substitution project in the data center of the region's guaranteeing power provider. This was announced by the company on July 30, 2025.
According to the press service of the company, the import substitution project was a response to the need to ensure the security of personal data by certified means and the implementation of the decree of the President of Russia No. 166. Previously, the company used foreign IT solutions, but decided in favor of data sovereignty and technological independence. At the beginning of 2024, with the support of the IT integrator Ilves Integration, TOSK specialists conducted a comparative analysis of domestic solutions.
The key criteria for choosing software were compatibility, reliability and usability. Based on the combination of these parameters, the Red Virtualization virtualization system and the Red OS operating system were selected.
The large-scale stage of the pilot implementation of Red Soft solutions consisted of two parts. At the first stage, a virtualization environment was deployed on two hosts with a storage system, some of the virtual servers were transferred to Red OS.
Successful testing, including performance evaluation by the Gilev integrated test, confirmed the system's readiness to run. At the second stage, during 2024, in-depth testing of Red OS was carried out in a virtualized environment and in conjunction with the 1C: Accounting system.
The pilot project showed that Red OS ensures stable operation of cashier equipment, including cash registers and bar code scanners, with a 1C system without complex configuration. Technical support for the developer "Red Soft" participated in the pilot implementation project.[1]
