2025: Service Launch
In France, the startup Invitin began work, providing newlyweds with the opportunity to sell tickets for their own wedding ceremony to strangers in order to partially cover the costs of the celebration. The platform has been operating since the beginning of 2025 and offers a unique business model for monetizing wedding events by attracting unfamiliar guests who are ready to pay for participation in someone else's holiday. This was announced by the founder of the project, Katya Leczky, in August 2025.
According to The Guardian, as of August 4, 2025, nine wedding events were available on the Invitin official website for booking. The cost of one ticket varies from €80 to €150, depending on the specific celebration and its format.
The number of tickets for sale varies for each wedding and ranges from four to 20 invitations. Newlyweds independently determine the number of places that are ready to provide unfamiliar guests, based on the total capacity of the venue and the desired level of privacy of the event.
The platform provides an opportunity for newlyweds to view profiles of potential ticket buyers. This allows couples to independently choose to whom they are ready to sell the invitation to their celebration, based on personal preferences and compatibility of interests.
Ticket buyers undertake to comply with the established rules of the event. Key requirements include dress code compliance, timely arrival without delay, refraining from posting photos without permission from newlyweds, and moderate consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Katya Lekedski stressed that the project is at an early stage of development. The founder believes that Invitin can become an effective tool for newlyweds seeking to reduce the financial burden of organizing a wedding celebration.
The startup's business model provides for a 20% commission on each ticket sold. Such a system allows the platform to generate income, while providing newlyweds with the opportunity to partially compensate for wedding costs. The service is available at the link. [1]
