2025: Start of Sales
Hong Kong tech start-up XiaoTun has launched commercial sales of the underwater AJ-03 jetpack, which allows underwater movement at speeds of up to 1.5 meters per second or 5.4 kilometers per hour for diving and scuba diving enthusiasts. The device is positioned as an affordable alternative to professional underwater equipment worth tens of thousands of dollars and is designed for use at a depth of up to 20 meters with the ability to work autonomously for up to an hour and a half. This became known on July 5, 2025.
The underwater AJ-03 pack has a mass of 9.2 kilograms and is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 15 thousand milliampere-hours. The battery life of the device is from 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the selected speed mode.
The technical device provides for three modes of underwater speed: 0.5 meters per second, 1 meter per second and a maximum of 1.5 meters per second. When operating at a minimum speed, the user can be underwater for up to 90 minutes, while the maximum mode limits the use time to 45 minutes.
The jet pack is controlled by a wired remote control connected to the main unit. The system is equipped with a cruise control function that allows you to maintain a constant speed of movement without the need for constant influence on the controls.
The design of the device is made of aluminum alloy and polyvinyl chloride, which provides corrosion resistance in sea water and sufficient strength for operation at a depth of up to 20 meters. The jet thrust of the engine system reaches 100 Newton meters.
The underwater pack supports the installation of a two-litre cylinder for self-contained breathing underwater, making it compatible with standard diving equipment. The manufacturer offers the device in three sizes for users of different complexion.
Startup XiaoTun sells products through the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform with a minimum contribution of $1,374 for early buyers. The recommended retail price is $2,747 after completing a crowdfunding campaign.[1]
