2025: Launching
In August 2025, the frigate Admiral Amelko of project 22350, intended for service in the Pacific Fleet, was launched in Russia. The ceremony took place at the Severnaya Verf in St. Petersburg in the presence of Admiral Alexander Moiseev, Commander-in-Chief of the Navy.
The new warship was named after the outstanding Soviet naval commander Admiral Nikolai Nikolaevich Amelko, a participant in the Great Patriotic War and former commander of the Pacific Fleet. The frigate will become the fifth representative of project 22350 and the fourth serial ship of this line.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseev, noted that the frigate has all the combat capabilities of a multi-purpose ship and is capable of solving problems both in the near and far sea zones. According to him, work is underway on a promising ship of the far ocean zone, the terms of reference for which have already been issued to the designers.
A distinctive feature of Admiral Amelko is the modernized design with an increased ammunition load. On board are four universal ship shooting complexes instead of two from their predecessors. This allows you to carry 32 missiles for various purposes, including Kalibr cruise missiles and hypersonic Zircon.
The frigate's armament includes a 130 mm A-192 artillery mount, the Poliment-Redut anti-aircraft missile system, the Pak anti-submarine complex and the Ka-27 deck helicopter. The ship is capable of performing the functions of combating surface and coastal targets, as well as striking at a strategic range.
The technical characteristics of the frigate demonstrate a high level of autonomy and combat capabilities. With a full displacement of 5400 tons, the ship develops a speed of up to 29 knots and is able to pass up to 4500 nautical miles without refueling. The duration of autonomous navigation is 30 days with a crew of 170 people.[1]
