2025: Detection of a marriage due to which the brakes fall off

Beijing Hyundai Motor has announced the recall of 3,469 Hyundai Custo cars in China due to identified brake system faults that could lead to lower braking efficiency. The recall campaign will affect vehicles produced between May 11 and June 24, 2025, and approved by the State Office of Market Regulation. Measures to eliminate defects will begin on September 5, 2025.

According to ixbt, the reason for the large-scale recall was violations of the production process, as a result of which there is an insufficient tightening moment for the tube of the rear brake line on part of the cars. The technical fault poses a potential road safety threat and requires immediate intervention.

Representatives of Beijing Hyundai Motor stressed that customer safety is a priority area of the company. The manufacturer encourages owners of Custo cars that fall under the recall campaign to contact authorized dealerships on their own to eliminate the identified defect.

As part of the recall program, all affected cars will have free replacement of brake line tubes. The troubleshooting procedure will not require additional financial costs from vehicle owners.

The Hyundai Custo is a seven-seat M-class minivan powered by a 170 horsepower 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. The car is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The maximum speed is 200 kilometers per hour with a fuel consumption of 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers.

The overall dimensions of the minivan are 4950 millimeters in length, 1850 millimeters in width and 1734 millimeters in height. The wheelbase reaches 3055 millimeters, which provides a spacious cabin for accommodating seven passengers. Ground clearance is 121 millimeters.[1]
