2025: Launch of a marketplace in Russia for public procurement of equipment, textbooks and stationery for educational institutions
In early September 2025, Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov announced the launch of a marketplace for state purchases of equipment, textbooks and stationery for schools. The digital platform was created jointly by Wildberries and the Enlightenment Publishing House to solve problems with inflated prices and poor quality of goods for educational institutions. The new service will allow schools, colleges and kindergartens to work directly with manufacturers and make purchases at an adequate cost.
According to RBC, Kravtsov stressed the need to create a transparent procurement system for educational institutions. The minister noted that the analysis of the equipment of schools revealed serious problems with the quality of equipment and pricing. Often, not what schools need is supplied to the regions, while the procurement system is not transparent enough.
There are more than 1.6 thousand companies in the educational equipment market that resell goods at inflated prices. The minister stressed the need to save budget funds and exclude the purchase of equipment unnecessary for schools. The new platform will provide direct interaction between customers and suppliers.
It is planned that all purchases for the education system will be carried out using platform solutions that ensure transparency and openness of procedures. The site will monitor the quality of the goods offered and their compliance with all established requirements for educational institutions.
Wildberries CEO Tatyana Kim clarified that this is not a Wildberries marketplace, but a separate specialized digital platform. The service began operating in pilot mode on September 1, 2025 to test functionality and work out procedures.
The first user of the platform was the Ryazan region. Governor Pavel Malkov said that schools in the region have already carried out 10 purchases of stationery through the new marketplace. In the near future, it is planned to purchase furniture, computer equipment and other educational equipment.[1]
