The Xerox company announced in March, 2011 an output to the Russian market of the innovation line of the robotic Kirtas Kabis I-III scanners for organizations and the organizations which functioning means hard work with the large volume of documents of long storage and books, including shabby and rare.

In the whole Kirtas Kabis represents the complete solution for universities, libraries, archives, research centers and the state corporations allowing to facilitate and accelerate process of digitization of books and to minimize participation of personnel in the procedure of scanning. At the same time the vacuum SureTurn technology implemented in devices provides careful browsing of pages with a speed up to 3 thousand per hour without control of the operator, without damaging the original, even shabby, and guaranteeing browsing only of one page for transaction, emphasized in Xerox.

Using a convenient ergonomic control panel, the operator enters the necessary parameters – further work, including browsing of pages and adjustment of provision of the document, the scanner executes in the automatic mode. Scanners work with pages from 49 g/m2 to 300 g/m2 thick, at the same time reconfiguration for paper of different thickness is not required, says Xerox.

At the same time, the innovation support system of the book SmartCradle allows to receive accurate pictures of a turn of the book, revealing her on only 110 ° (the corner doing the smallest harm to rare and old books), emphasized in the company. Pressing and straightening of pages is performed by automatically special claws; when turning the corner remains to constants, providing arrangement of upper pages in the focal plane of the camera. During the work with two and more books of an identical format secondary input of parameters is not required thanks to what time between transactions is reduced.

According to Xerox, permission of scanning makes from 400 to 600 dots per inch, the software of Bookscan Editor Pro is capable to recognize the text in 177 languages, to perform formatting and editing and also full-text search with morphological analysis and recognition of barkod. The scanned pages remain in the JPEG, TIFF and PDF formats with a possibility of an output in Microsoft Word, XML and Microsoft PowerPoint.
