The St. Petersburg Research Institute for Prospective Urban Planning has begun to develop a master plan for Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. This became known in early October 2025.

Bishkek's master plan will become a strategic document of long-term planning. The main task is to balance the territorial expansion and conservation of natural resources. The elimination of the deficit of social infrastructure is included in the list of priorities. The creation of a modern transport system will solve the problem of road congestion. Improving the environmental situation will increase the quality of life of citizens. Stimulating economic growth will ensure business development.

The master plan will become the basis for management decisions by the city authorities. Aligning the interests of the authorities, businesses and residents will require a balance of different positions. The guarantee of sustainable development of the city is ensured through an integrated approach to planning. Harmonious development involves a combination of economic, social and environmental factors. Bishkek's competitiveness in the international arena depends on the quality of the urban environment.

Director of the Research Institute of PG, academician of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Building Sciences Pavel Spirin noted the peculiarity of the project. According to him, a digital version of the master plan will be created. Development in the future may form the basis of the digital twin of the city of Bishkek. A modern tool allows you to simulate various scenarios for the development of the territory. Predicting the consequences of management decisions becomes possible through simulation. Online data updates ensure that information is up-to-date. Integration with monitoring systems creates a single information space.[1]
