TATNEFT Begins Transition from Microsoft Office to Russian Office Software

Customers: Tatneft

Almetyevsk; Oil industry

Project date: 2025/10

As TAdviser discovered, TATNEFT decided to abandon Microsoft Office office software and switch to its Russian counterpart. The company placed the corresponding request for proposals from potential suppliers in early October 2025.

The published terms of reference for the request for proposals states that in total TATNEFT requires 15 thousand desktop office software packages and 1 thousand server packages for joint work. The name of the specific product that the customer would like to receive is not given in the document. The main thing is that it is included in the register of domestic software.

The delivery shall include desktop and web editors of text, tables, presentations, diagrams, a document repository with flexible access rights and the ability to edit documents in multi-user mode, as well as a desktop e-mail client.

TATNEFT plans to purchase 15 thousand packages of Russian office software

The period for providing warranty support and software updates under the supplied license is at least 12 months from the date of product acceptance. At the same time, it is necessary not only to install the software, but also to ensure its implementation and training of users in working with it. And before implementation, the contractor has yet to analyze the existing IT infrastructure, prepare recommendations for optimization, and develop a detailed migration plan with deadlines and milestones.

By the time of migration to the Russian office suite, it seems that TATNEFT had already managed to import the operating systems to a certain extent. So, in the requirements for to software , the possibility of functioning on various versions of the OS is indicated, and Astra Linux. Red OS But "DEW" there is still something to work on here - there are desktop and Servers OS in the same list. Windows

The search for purchases of TATNEFT on the same tender site and in other open sources indicates that earlier the company had no purchases for import substitution of office software. So perhaps this is only the beginning of a larger migration. In total, TATNEFT, according to the annual report for 2024, already employs more than 70 thousand employees[1], of which more than 15 thousand can potentially be users of office software.

It is worth noting that TATNEFT was engaged in import substitution until 2022, which became the catalyst for the movement towards technological independence for many large companies. Thus, in 2019, as part of the implementation of the strategy for the development of information systems, TATNEFT initiated a program of projects for transferring current functionality from the SAP platform to 1C[2].
