At the end of October 2025, it became known that the Taiwanese contract manufacturer of semiconductor components TSMC manufactured 150,000 processors for Baikal Electronics, but refused to transfer them to a Russian company due to the prevailing geopolitical situation. This was announced by the general director of Baikal Electronics Andrei Evdokimov.
According to him, until the spring of 2022, Baikal Electronics received from TSMC about 60 thousand Baikal-M and Baikal-T chips. The former are designed for a wide range of consumer and B2B segment devices: in particular, such processors can be used in workstations. In turn, Baikal-T products are designed for telecom equipment, network data drives, industrial automation and building management systems, etc.
After the start of a special military operation, TSMC shipments of processors in the interests of Baikal Electronics ceased. At the same time, the Taiwanese manufacturer does not return money to the Russian company, which was transferred to pay for manufactured but not supplied products.
| In total, we had orders placed for more than 200 thousand, and more than 150 thousand processors produced or partially produced remained frozen in Taiwan, they still lie there, they are not given to us due to sanctions. And they don't give money either, "says Evdokimov, whose words are quoted by the resource www1.ru. |
The head of Baikal Electronics also emphasizes that it is impossible to deploy the production of Baikal processors in Russia on its own. This requires international cooperation.[1]
