State ATM Corporation has prepared a billion rubles to replace imported hardware in the virtualization system

As TAdviser found out, FSUE State ATM Corporation decided to import replace its disaster-tolerant virtualization cluster. The organization is ready to pay a rather large amount for the project - up to 1 billion rubles, according to the corresponding tender placed in mid-November 2025 on the public procurement portal^[1].

From the terms of reference for purchasing, it follows that the supplied virtualization cluster must include 32 servers. The servers require the presence of a domestic BIOS - from the register of Russian software. It is also necessary that each of the servers is equipped with at least two processors containing from 26 cores. The maximum total amount of RAM supported per server will be at least 8 TB.

Also, the cluster will include 8 storage systems, the same number of backup servers, 4 backup storage systems with the function of excluding duplicate copies of duplicate data and aggregation switches. The specific names of the products that the customer would like to use in his virtualization cluster are not given in the terms of reference.

It is important that the cluster equipment requires compatibility with domestic server and workstation virtualization management systems, including RED Virtualization.

From the description of the comprehensive project on import substitution of the IT infrastructure in the State Corporation for ATM, previously published in open sources, it follows that the company has already replaced Hyper-V and VMware virtualization with the RED Virtualization^[2] solution^[3]. The state corporation believes that import substitution in this part allows "to effectively manage resources and optimize the infrastructure of data centers." In total, more than 60 RED Virtualization nodes were deployed.

The goods must be delivered to two addresses: to the General Directorate of the State Corporation for ATM and to the Directorate of its branch, Moscow Center for Automated Air Traffic Control.

In addition to the direct delivery, the contractor is also required to perform the installation and commissioning of the equipment. We are talking, among other things, about distributing data arrays to logical volumes based on the customer's needs, installing a domestic platform for managing virtual server and workstation environments on server capacities, connecting the remote monitoring function, and so on.
