2025: Sentence - 14 years in prison for kidnapping for cryptocurrency

In November 2025, the Sverdlovsk Regional Court sentenced four residents of the Altai Territory - Dmitry Atamanov, Alexander Gerasimov, Vyacheslav Siluyanov and Dmitry Storozhenko - to imprisonment. They were found guilty of organizing the abduction of a resident of Yekaterinburg in order to seize the cryptocurrency belonging to him.

According to the materials of the case, in the spring of 2023, the organizer of the crime (the case against which was separated into a separate proceeding) received information about a significant amount of cryptocurrency assets belonging to a citizen of Yekaterinburg.

Residents of the Altai Territory received up to 14 years in prison for kidnapping for cryptocurrency

An organized group was created to implement the criminal plan. The key role in the preparation of the crime was played by the former police officer of the Altai Territory Vyacheslav Siluyanov, who, through the current law enforcement officer Dmitry Storozhenko, received official information about the victim, including data on the place of residence, vehicles and the circle of communication.

Members of the criminal group arrived in Yekaterinburg with firearms, for a long time monitored the schedule and routes of movement of the victim. In July 2023, in the village of Rudny, they abducted a man, after which they took him to the forest and, under the threat of violence, forced him to transfer cryptocurrency assets worth over 5.8 million rubles to electronic wallets of cybercriminals. Some of the funds received were subsequently legalized.

The court appointed Atamanov 7 years in a strict regime colony (he was acquitted of charges), Gerasimov - 11 years in a strict regime colony and a fine of 500 thousand rubles, Siluyanov - 14 years in a strict regime colony and a fine of 800 thousand rubles (maximum term), Storozhenko - 10 years in strict regime, a fine of 950 thousand rubles, deprivation of rank and a ban on working in law enforcement agencies.

The jury found the episode of extortion unproven. The civil claim of the victim was partially satisfied.[1]
