Biography

2025: Sentence - 24 years in prison for launching a UAV to check air defense in the Moscow region

On November 26, 2025, the conviction of Russian Andrei Veryanov entered into legal force. The Second Western District Military Court appointed him 24 years in a strict regime colony for launching an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to receive and transmit data on air defense systems (air defense) to the enemy in the Moscow region, as well as for an attempt on the life of a representative of the highest echelon of power of the Russian Federation.

According to the Center for Public Relations of the Federal Security Service (DSP FSB), in April 2023, 55-year-old native of Rostov-on-Don Andriy Veryanov initiative began confidential cooperation with a representative of the Security Service of Ukraine ( SBU) and a terrorist organization banned in Russia. The attacker collected intelligence about the location and vulnerabilities in the operation of air defense systems near Moscow, for which he assembled and launched UAVs into airspace.

The FSB Investigation Department (SU) also found that Veryanov received from the curators the task of preparing the explosion of the plane on which a high-ranking Russian official was supposed to fly.

Based on the materials of the operational-search activities of the Investigative Directorate of the FSB of Russia, a criminal case was initiated and investigated under Art. 275 (on high treason) and part 2 of Art. 205.5 (organization of the activities of a terrorist organization and participation in the activities of such an organization) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which were combined into one proceeding. During the investigation, an irrefutable evidence base was collected, confirming the guilt of the accused.

In addition to imprisonment, the court sentenced Andrei Veryanov to a fine of 500 thousand rubles.

The FSB emphasizes that all persons who agree to cooperate with the enemy will be identified, prosecuted and punished.[1][2]
