2025: The launch in the Leningrad region of the production of vacuum tubes and medical needles for ₽1,5 billion

In November 2025, the MiraMed company, which is part of the World of Packaging group of companies, opened a new production of vacuum tubes and ready-made sharpened needle tubes for the manufacture of medical needles in the city of Sertolovo, Leningrad Region. The volume of investments in the project exceeded ₽1,5 billion.

Production began on the territory of three workshops with a total area of ​ ​ more than 2.5 thousand square meters. Such products were mainly imported to Russia, which makes the launch of domestic production significant for the medical industry.

The new production facilities are designed to produce significant volumes of medical products. The company will produce up to 180 million test tubes per year. It is also planned to manufacture at least 400 million plastic components annually. The production of finished sharpened needle tubes will reach 300 million units per year.

The opening of production will create more than 40 new jobs in the region. This will expand employment of the population of the Leningrad Region in the high-tech sector and provide additional tax revenues to the budget.

Finished sharpened needle tubes are used to further manufacture different types of medical needles. The products are used in the production of the following types of products:

• double-sided needles;
• insulin needles;
• injection needles;
• fistula needles;
• catheter needles.

MirmMed plans to open its own production of medical needles at the Sertolovo site in the future. This will create a complete production cycle - from needle tubes to finished medical products. Vertical integration will reduce reliance on external suppliers and improve production efficiency.

Nikolai Bespalov, Development Director of the analytical company RNC Pharma, noted that the new capacities of Mirmed claim a decent market share. According to Nikolai Bespalov, the production of such consumables is very important. RNC Pharma Development Director stressed that the products are used in huge quantities in the public and private medicine system. The expert pointed out that the demand for vacuum tubes is growing following an increase in the number of diagnostic procedures.^[1]
