2025: Arrest of murder suspect

On November 27, 2025, the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the city of Moscow announced the arrest of Mikhail Postnikov, a suspect in the murder of the president of the computer company Vist Computer. The businessman was shot dead in the capital in 1999, but failed to solve the crime in hot pursuit.

The body of 36-year-old Postnikov with gunshot wounds was found on the evening of December 27, 1999 in the courtyard of a residential building on Malomoskovskaya Street in northern Moscow. The man was killed by seven shots from a Makarov pistol - four bullets hit the head.

According to the UK, during the work of investigators and operational officers of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow, a witness was identified who told about the circumstances of this murder known to him. This made it possible to reach the killer: they turned out to be an individual entrepreneur involved in cargo transportation, who is allegedly part of an organized criminal group.

It is emphasized that during the confrontation, the witness pointed to the detainee as the person who committed the crime. The suspect was charged with committing a crime under sub-clauses "e," "g," "z," part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - murder committed in a generally dangerous way, by a group of persons by prior conspiracy or organized group, out of selfish motives or for hire. Such acts are punishable by imprisonment for a term of 8 to 20 years with restriction of freedom for a term of 1 to 2 years, or life imprisonment. Investigative actions were carried out with the defendant, a preventive measure was chosen for him in the form of detention.

Also, the investigation has information about the accomplices of the accused. Currently, investigative actions and operational-search measures are being carried out aimed at establishing and detaining them, the report said.[1]
