Jet Infosystems upgraded a storage system for Sabmiller of RUS

Sabmiller RUS, Jet Infosystems and Hitachi Data Systems companies sum up the results of upgrade of a storage system. Specialists of integrator made for Sabmiller of RUS replacement of an array and switches and also installation of specialized software Hitachi Data Protection Suite using which performed data migration from old base in new. The advanced storage system conforms to high requirements to fault tolerance, has an essential reserve stock and good opportunities for the subsequent scaling, is available in mode 24x7x365.

Due to the expansion of business and increase in load of computer systems, the existing storage system ceased to conform to the increased requirements to capacity. Besides, life of the equipment came to an end, and it could not provide necessary indicators of fault tolerance already. All this in total also served as premises to start of the project on upgrade of DWH. Project implementation was entrusted Jet Infosystems company. Successful cooperation of the companies in other projects became the defining factor at decision-making - several years of the IT system Sabmiller of RUS are on service of the Service center of Jet Infosystems company.

Based on complex assessment IT infrastuktury, the decision on global upgrade of network and a storage system on the platform in Moscow was made. Considering the regular growth of load of storage system, specifics of the SAP ERP platform on which the database and also experience of implementation of similar projects functioned earlier, engineers of Jet Infosystems company suggested to use solutions of Hitachi Data Systems companies (an array of Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage 2300) and Brocade (Brocade 5100 FC switches).

Features of architecture of an array of Hitachi AMS 2300 allow to ensure smooth operation of service seven days a week. That in such mode to provide steadily high rates of performance and also to minimize time expenditure on administration of a system, specialists of Jet Infosystems company configured an automatic process of optimization of use of disk space.

The present possibility is implemented using the Hitachi Dynamic Provisioning (HDP) software package. Basic function of HDP consists in creation of an integral pool of disk elements and automatic load distribution on each disk separately. Before start in operation specialists of Jet Infosystems company tested software in a working configuration and worked procedures of replication at own test stand.

Automation of process of creation of the backup copy of data DBMS Oracle of remote branch and also the central mail server MS Exchange on the secondary platform in Moscow became an important stage of the project. For implementation of replication feature the special application of Hitachi Data Protection Suite which allows to reproduce the backup copy of the data given with the minimum delay of relevance and a possibility of remote control recovery of services was used.

Also during the project replacement of the equipment of the Storage Area Network was performed. Two Brocade FC switches, with a capacity of 40 active ports and support of high-speed modes 2, 4 or 8 of Gbit/sec. are installed.
