In 2014, the Bank of Russia revoked Unicorbank's banking license. The regulator said in a statement that the organization pursued a high-risk credit policy related to the placement of funds in low-quality assets. In addition, as reported, the bank was involved in dubious operations to issue cash to customers, as well as in schemes for withdrawing funds abroad, the total volume of which in 2013-2014 amounted to more than 21 billion rubles.

As a result of the formation of reserves adequate to the risks taken, Unicorbank's activities arose grounds for the implementation of measures to prevent insolvency (bankruptcy). At the same time, due to the unsatisfactory quality of assets that did not generate sufficient cash flow, the bank did not ensure the timely fulfillment of obligations to creditors and depositors. The managers and owners of the credit institution did not take effective measures to normalize its activities and improve its financial situation.[1]
