2025: Recall of 33.5 thousand cars

On December 12, 2025, AvtoVAZ announced a voluntary recall of 33.5 thousand Lada Granta cars. The Russian automaker explained the decision by the need to diagnose one of the functional units of the vehicle. It is assumed that we are talking about a steering unit.

As reported on the portal, Rosstandart Lada Granta cars produced from June 6 to December 12, 2025 are being recalled. Dealerships must notify car owners and carry out all work for free.

According to three sources of Kommersant, the recall campaign is associated with possible problems of the steering shaft cardan joint. This element serves to transmit rotation from the steering wheel to the wheel control mechanism.

Nikita Rodionov, technical director of the Fit Service car service network, explained that the defect can manifest itself in knocks, steering wheel play, difficult turning, and in a critical case, in its jamming, which leads to the loss of control over the car. In his opinion, the repair of Lada Granta is technically simple: at the dealer station they dismantle the steering column and replace the crosses or the entire assembly.

Rolfa Service Director Yulia Trushkova noted that such malfunctions are usually characteristic of cars with mileage of more than 100 thousand km.

For AvtoVAZ, this is the sixth recall campaign in 2025, but the previous five were related to the additional installation of the ERA-GLONASS emergency call system.
