2025: Obligation to pay 33 million rubles in favor of the Russian subsidiary Google
On December 23, 2025, the Moscow Arbitration Court satisfied the claim of the Russian subsidiary of Google - Google LLC - against the digital marketing agency High Business Ideas (VBI) to recover debts for advertising services. 32.6 million rubles were collected from the agency. The information follows from the court's file cabinet.
Forbes clarifies that by a court decision, 29 million rubles of the principal debt and 3.5 million rubles will be recovered from the advertising agency "High Business Ideas" as interest for the use of other people's money. In addition, the advertising agency is obliged to pay a state duty to the federal budget in the amount of 551,011 rubles. In accordance with the document, the agency has the right to appeal the decision to the appellate instance within one month.
During the trial, it turned out that the debt in the amount of 29 million rubles arose from the VBI agency to Google under an agreement for the provision of advertising services. As indicated in the court decision, the debt was formed due to non-payment of services for the first and second quarters of 2020.
According to Rusprofile (counterparty verification service), the fact of the debt was revealed by the bankruptcy trustee of Google. In June 2024, the company sent a pre-trial claim for a refund, which was dismissed.
As follows from the materials of the court, the representatives of the defendant insisted on the expiration of the three-year statute of limitations. The court rejected this argument, indicating that the deadline began to count from the moment the claim was sent in 2024.
According to Forbes, Google was declared bankrupt in October 2023. The total amount of the company's debts to creditors amounted to 53.6 billion rubles. 861 persons were included in the register of creditors' claims.[1]
