On July 10, 2014 company SafeNet, Inc. announced the addition to the solution ProtectFile - the technology of transparent enciphering of the confidential data placed in Apache Hadoop clusters was its part.

By means of SafeNet ProtectFile for Linux the enterprises implementing Hadoop for work with the growing amounts of Big Data have an opportunity to protect valuable information without decline in production of Hadoop or deterioration in experience of interaction for end users.

ProtectFile for Linux is the finished solution of security for the Hadoop platform, provides transparent complex enciphering of the confidential data which are stored in Apache Hadoop clusters. It only in insignificant degree influences overall performance and does not require change of architecture of the existing mechanisms for work with Big Data.

As a part of ProtectFile instruments of automation for fast and convenient deployment of this solution and the standardized implementation at once on a set of nodes of data processing in Hadoop cluster. Like other products SafeNet for enciphering and authentication, the solution ProtectFile includes the mechanism of centralized operation by keys and security policies, providing to the organizations full control over the encryption keys, as well as a possibility of setup, the organization of discrete access control for protection of a system against unauthorized intervention.
