Content

The Svyazdorinvest company is going to build a fiber-optical backbone network of data transmission along federal highways across the territory of Russia, by 2014.

Expectations

Implementation of this project will allow Svyazdorinvest to render modern high-quality communication services at the European prices. Capacity of this communication system will make 3.2 Tb / sec. (80 channels on 40 GB / c).

Implementation

It is supposed that construction of network will happen in several stages.

The first – from border near Omsk. Start – in the first quarter 2013. The second stage – from Omsk through Irkutsk to the Chinese border near Chita. Start in the first quarter 2014. An additional branch – from Chita through Vladivostok to Japan. Start after the second quarter 2013.

The fourth stage from Novosibirsk or Krasnoyarsk with intersection of the Chinese border in Altai Krai. Time of start is necessary to approval of administration of Altai Krai and the Chinese side.

The fifth stage – from Belarus through Russia and Kazakhstan to China with intersection of border with Kazakhstan near Uralsk or Astrakhan. Terms of start are not coordinated.

Delights

Advantages of the project – a possibility of the maximum use of the Russian road network for placement linearly - cable constructions. It reduces project cost and provides its reliable operation.

Today on a route Europe-Asia is transferred about 7 Tb / with, and there is it on the Pacific cabled fibers, through the territory of the USA and further through Atlantic. Estimates of experts show that by 2015 there can be a doubling of volume of traffic in this direction.

But already now the Russian operators face a lack of capacities, their insufficient reliability. The signal delay time by transfer on the existing lines reaches 150 ms, and it is required – about 50 ms. Such delay will be provided by Svyazdorinvest network, it is required also by the main Chinese telecom operators.

The CEO of Svyazdorinvest Pavel Sharay expressed satisfaction with cooperation with Cisco company (the partner of Svyazdorinvest in the project) which with the big enthusiast supports this large-scale project and proposes for it the most modern solutions.

Hitch

The main problem of the project is that laws of our state prohibit to lay communication lines along roads. In this regard representatives of the company conduct a lot of work in the State Duma for adjustment of outdated laws.
