Biokhimmak Ltd was organized in 1989 at the initiative of the staff of department of chemical enzymology of Chemical faculty Lomonosov Moscow State University and Bio-Rad Laboratories GmbH company (Austria) with active participation of the German firm "IMACK". The main activity of Biokhimmak Ltd and Biokhimmak Diagnostika Ltd is supply of equipment, reagents and test systems for kliniko-diagnostic laboratories and also the equipment and reagents for scientific research in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology.

In process of business development the company had tasks for which solution upgrade of the enterprise software was required:

  • increase in speed of accomplishment of orders;
  • obtaining various statistics;
  • conducting address storage of goods;
  • formalization and automation of warehouse procedures;
  • decrease in dependence on personnel and increase in efficiency of its work;
  • an opportunity to ship products on FIFO (for goods with a limited expiration date).

For automation of receiving, storage and operational data processing by company management the decision on implementation of a new end-to-end system of control automation by the enterprise was made. Choice of configurations "1C Logistics: Management of a warehouse" and 1C: Trade Management 8.0 was partly caused by the fact that the personnel of the company already had extensive work experience in 1C: Enterprise 8.0.

The project was implemented in two stages:

  • Implementation of a trade part of the integrated configuration including work with suppliers and buyers, accounting of trade operations, the system of pricing.
  • Implementation of a warehouse part of the integrated configuration: acceptance, placement, selection and shipment of goods, feed of goods taking into account expiration dates, formation of commodity sets, inventory, the specialized analytical reporting (according to requirements of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation).

The specifics of the project consisted in particular accounting of pharmaceutical medicines: accounting of expiration dates, execution of special reports and special document forms.

Need of integration of the warehouse and trade solution is characteristic not of each project. However at automation of Biokhimmak it was connected with the fact that the employees who are responsible for shipment of goods perform in the company also functions of the manager with the customer. It is caused by the difficult range of goods of the company (pharmaceutical medicines require excellent knowledge of the range).

To ensure effective functioning of personnel of the customer within a uniform information circuit, the decision to use the integrated solution including two software products on the 1C: Enterprise 8.0 platform as an end-to-end system of management was made. As a result of implementation of the principle of "one window" each manager of the company had an opportunity to conduct all chain of the order with the moment of receiving it from the client before selection of goods from cells and a holiday from a warehouse, without switching at the same time between programs. Existence in the system of the general reference books and the adjusted interrelations between trade and warehouse documents gave the chance to construct an end-to-end chain of process of service of the order in uniform information base that allows to avoid dead times and information at each stage of merchandising.

Features of work with pharmaceuticals were shown also in other areas of the project. In a system the possibility of accounting of goods by expiration dates and shipment by the principle of FIFO was implemented. A system helps to locate goods so that medicines with the earliest expiration date always appeared in the most available areas of a warehouse. For this purpose in a small warehouse (200 sq.m) the full stroke of warehouse technology process including procedures and placements, and feeds of goods was organized. Goods with older expiration dates "are forced out" from storage locations by "fresh" goods, allowing to provide convenience of selection by the principle of FEFO.

Implementation is executed by a project team of AXELOT in 4 months. 30 jobs are in total automated.

Now the management Biokhimmak quickly obtains reliable information about quantitative and qualitative structure of stock balance, settlement with buyers and suppliers. Versatile analytical reports increased controllability of the enterprise in general. Placement of goods is optimized that led to more effective use of rather small premises of a warehouse.
