2026: Production Revival

At the end of February 2026, Passenger Car Manufacturing PLA announced the revival of the Volga brand. The assembly of machines will be carried out at a high-tech production site in, Nizhny Novgorod where vehicles and were previously produced. Skoda Volkswagen

At the initial stage, the Volga family will include class C and D crossovers, as well as a D-class sedan. According to available information, these machines are based on Geely models - Atlas, Monjaro and Preface, respectively. The production is equipped with more than 100 industrial robots in welding and painting workshops, advanced assembly lines and a multi-stage quality control system. The design capacity of the enterprise is 110 thousand cars per year.

According to the Rossiyskaya Gazeta Internet portal, Volga cars will combine comfort, safety and modern technologies. The equipment will include a winter package in the basic configuration and intelligent driver assistance systems. Mentioned are a spacious ergonomic interior and a laconic design.

Currently, the planned preparation of the infrastructure and equipment of the plant for serial production is underway, which will begin in the second quarter of this year. The first Volga cars will be on sale in official dealerships in the third quarter of 2026, the automaker notes.

Production personnel, it is emphasized, undergo a full cycle of training and constantly improve their qualifications. The plans include a progressive increase in localization, as well as the maximum possible use of Russian solutions and components. Production is expected to have a positive impact on the development of regional industry and create additional jobs in the Nizhny Novgorod region. In addition, the project will stimulate the strengthening of related industries.[1]
