Esri CIS: GIS system for the Inchukalnsky underground gas storage of LatvijasGaze company (Latvia) is started

In March, 2011 the geographic information system (GIS) of the Inchukalnsky underground gas storage (UGS) of LatvijasGaze company (Latvia) is brought into operation. The project is executed by the partner of Esri CIS – the Ukrainian representative office of "Gaztranzit" – IT-TRANSIT LLC company, and is the finished solution which can successfully be applied to automation of UGS in Russia and other countries.

In this GIS project represents the single corporate system intended for management of the main production processes connected with operation of the space distributed technical objects and the systems of the Inchukalnsky underground gas storage. So, the customer can solve complex problems of inventory and certification of technical constructions with its help (and it: pipelines, wells, the systems of collecting and preparation of gas, compressor workshops, etc. – only 317 object types united in 23 technology groups). Besides, a system allows to keep account of land inventory data; provide tools for work with various technology graphics – technology and schematic circuits, schemes of automation, along-route profiles of field pipelines, schemes of wells and hydrodynamic profiles of layers collectors. In the long term, it is going to expand a production load on the developed system and to include in it the tasks connected with assessment of technical condition of objects, planning and control of works on diagnostics, repair and service of objects of UGS, technology document flow, the reporting. Integration of GIS with other systems of the enterprise, including the PCS and ERP is also planned.

UGS objects with their detailed description can be displayed on the survey card in scales 1:10 a.m. 000 – 1:100,000, on the large-scale topographical plan of scale 1:500 or on materials aero - by the kosmosjemki of high resolution. Inclusion of different thematic layers is in addition possible (for example, the cadastral plan of the territory with data on all land users and their contacts). Also one of potential space resources of a system are 3D models of process and field pipelines participating in analytical calculations of their technical condition and showing interrelations of underground and land objects.

Let's highlight that using a geographic information system activity of all production services UGS was automated: geological and gas-compressor; operation of the equipment of gas fields and service of automatic equipment, power supply, operational management of productive activity; operation of infrastructure, buildings and buildings, metrology.

New GIS is constructed based on server solution of Esri ArcGIS, and uses technology of product-based "thin client" of Microsoft SilverLight and Adobe Flex. As a DB in the project development of Oracle – together with ArcSDE (the interface giving the chance to use the selected relational DBMS for storage and management of space data) is applied.
