Kazkommertsbank starts new DPC - the first of three

Kazkommertsbank and IBM corporation announced start in Almaty of the new data processing center constructed based on the IBM Power Systems server platform.

Solution

The new computer system is the first of three data centers (DPC) located in more than 1200 kilometers from each other which will be united in the disaster-proof solution. Creation of similar information infrastructure will allow to implement in the future the round-the-clock service of customer accounts and will give the chance to perform transactions is time-invariant day and a day of the week, to support work in all time zones without delays in time.

The project in Kazakhstan is implemented by Corporate Business Systems company (CBS).

Details

The new platform from IBM will be responsible for all complex of automatic services of Kazkommertsbank: Equation (main core banking system of Bank), Card System (service of payment cards), Onlinebank, Homebank (system of Internet banking), CRM (system of sales and Call center), WorkFlow (internal document flow of bank) and data warehouse.

For minimization of scheduled and unplanned downtimes of a system, Kazkommertsbank selected the solution of MIMIX Availability of Vision Solutions company, one of the leading world software providers and services in availability of the IBM Power Systems servers. The Misys company, the supplier of the core banking system Equation operated by Kazkommertsbank provided delivery of module 24х7 which implementation will allow bank to use this system for client transactions in the round-the-clock mode.

Stability

Disaster tolerance of an IT system of bank is provided due to dispersal of production capacities, creation of duplicative and reserve storage systems and information processing. Opening of a new data processing center in Almaty will allow to save a safe and uninterrupted operation mode at potential mechanical damages, the fires, interruptions in power supply, technical failures, etc. With start of one more computer center in the capital of Kazakhstan the bank will provide disaster tolerance of an IT system at large-scale natural disasters: earthquakes, floods, other potential natural and technogenic incidents.

Compliance

Infrastructure of a data processing center corresponds to the 3rd level of reliability and fault tolerance according to the standard of the Telecommunication Industry Association of the USA of TIA-942 which actually is today the international standard. Plans for 2011 provide upgrade of elements of infrastructure for reliability assurance 4 levels (first) in TIA-942 standard.
