The U.S. Air Force takes part in creation of a cloud system of collecting and exchange of prospecting information between military and government sources. Reliability of private "clouds" still has the highest priority for the Defense Ministry, despite accident of Amazon services.

The Defense Ministry issued to Intelligent Software Solutions (ISS) company the contract for $49.9 million for use of its Web Enabled Temporal Analysis System system (WebTAS) for implementation of collecting and the analysis of prospecting information of the United States Air Force (Air Force) which they uses for planning and implementation of missions.

As ISS reported, the company will expand the cooperation with the Central command of investigation, observation and reconnaissance (ISR) of transactions using WebTAS worldwide for assessment of how it is better to provide support of the general planning and activity of heads of transactions.

The new year contract is a part of the contract in $500 million the received ISS in 2009 from the Air Force for different services when processing, to the analysis and visualization of the prospecting information arriving from different sources. WebTAS - the program tools providing visualization, integration and the analysis of separate data on the platform of the service-oriented architecture (SOA) forms a basis of this contract.

Creation of a private cloud system of information exchange which will affect several federal prospecting organizations integrated as information sources used together with the Air Force will be a part of the contract.

The federal government even more often uses "clouds" because of their cost, efficiency and other advantages, but the agencies which are engaged in delicate information, as a rule, make the choice for benefit of private, but not public clouds option. The U.S. Army, for example, integrated several systems of e-mail in the private "cloud" placed with Defense Information Systems Agency.

Proofs of risks of use of private "cloud" appeared last week when the Elastic Compute Cloud service from Amazon within several days experienced difficulties as a result of shutdown. However these issues were not touched by most the federal institutions having websites on EC2.

The new WebTAS project will also provide exchange between the different services created within larger project which includes more than 100 projects for 70 different communities of users of the Air Force.

"The U.S. Armed Forces and the government are aimed at improvement of their competence - "connection of points" of separate information networks", - Carl Houghton, the vice president for strategic initiatives of ISS told.

In addition to instruments of investigation and the analysis other projects, it is more than the contract WebTAS, developments and deployments of applications of new generation of management and control include providing IT systems, support of the advanced research and development for processing of difficult events, ISS reported.

The personnel of ISS in number of more than 120 people in regions of Afghanistan and Iran provide IT and support of the American combat operations.
