The service Body of IBM together with Administration of Sochi implements socially important projects

The IBM corporation announced results of the second visit of the Service body of IBM to Russia. Eleven employees of IBM from the different countries and divisions of the company of profit at the beginning of April, 2011 in Sochi for work on socially important projects of the public sector. Within four weeks they studied work of four organizations of Sochi and developed recommendations about development of the programs directed to increase in administrative efficiency and attractiveness of Sochi as the international tourist center.

Within the visit participants of the Service body of IBM solved the following problems:

  • development of recommendations about system implementation of efficiency evaluation of educational institutions, together with Management by training and science of Administration of Sochi;
  • development of the specialized database of target audiences and recommendations about work with target audiences of Winter theater and Hall of organ and chamber music of Sochi;
  • development of model and practice of the electronic government in Sochi, together with Management of information resources of Administration of Sochi;
  • development of marketing strategy on involvement of volunteers and creation of base of city volunteers, together with the Center of development of volunteering and Management for youth policy of Sochi.

Participants of the Service body of IBM, having wide experience in implementation of business projects of the international level, actively introduce this experience in work on projects of the public sector and transfer him to the staff of organizations and organizations of Sochi. The help of the Service body of IBM is non-paid.

'The tasks strategically important for social development of the city were set for employees of the Service body of IBM — Irina Vasilyevna Romanets, the deputy head of administration of Sochi on social problems noted. — Belonging of members of the Service Body of IBM to different cultures provides involvement of the best international the practician, and their solid business experience allowed us to find new ways for the solution of such tasks as efficiency evaluation of educational institutions, increase in attendance of Winter theater and the Hall of organ and chamber music and also attraction and motivation of city volunteers for solving of tasks of local communities'.

All participants of group underwent multi-stage selection and special training in IBM taking into account experience of implementation of similar projects in other countries. Operation of the Service body of IBM in Russia is a part of a global initiative of IBM within which, since the middle of 2008, more than 100 missions of the Service Body of IBM helped public organizations with 50 countries of the world, including India, China, Brazil, Romania, etc.

For the staff of IBM participation in the program is the new experience submerging them in the unfamiliar cultural and social environment. In the modern world the business leader should have such qualities as understanding and respect of social values, knowledge of the social, educational and environmental challenges defining business development in the 21st century; capability work and perform leadership in multicultural commands; knowledge of global standards of responsible business and following to these standards. These qualities and skills help to create the program of the Service Body of IBM.

Work on projects in Sochi lasted from April 1 to April 30, 2011. The current visit of a team of staff of IBM to Sochi is the second visit of the Service body of IBM to Russia. The first visit took place in October, 2010 to Kazan. Then participants of the Service Body of IBM developed the concept of audience accumulation for National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan and the program for involvement of talented entrants for Kazan Federal University.
