JSC Telekominvest was founded in 1994 by the leading telecommunication enterprises of St. Petersburg - JSC Petersburg Telephone Network and JSC Sankt-Peterburgsky Mezhdugorodny Mezhdunarodny Telefon - for ensuring management of their subsidiary companies. The holding owned share blocks of the companies which performed activity in different regions of Russia and abroad, provided mobile services, were engaged in production of the software, providing Internet access, worked in other spheres of activity.

Shareholders of JSC Telekominvest were:

• Olimp limited liability company - 58.9%,
• Teliyasonera Aktibulag - 26.1%,
• AF Telecom Holding limited liability company - 15%.

Also among shareholders there was a Sport Shop Sabanikh company from shares of 2.07%.

The Telekominvest worked at the telecommunication market of Russia more than thirteen years. All these years the company showed the stable growth and business development, and was one of the largest telecommunication holdings of Russia.

Providing services of a voice communication to clients and data transmissions and also access to various sources of information was the main objective of Telekominvest holding. Telekominvest implemented such services, using a combination of mobile technologies and modern technologies of fixed connection, including broadband subscriber access of different types. Also the company worked in the field of creation of information billing systems and information platforms of new generation.

The Telekominvest exercised operational and strategic control by the companies, implementing system approach to business which is expressed in purposeful development of all operating segments of holding based on uniform standards and procedures. The share blocks belonging to the company allow to exercise effectively control and control in affiliated and dependent enterprises.

The investment strategy of the company was based on the concept of rational use of all range of instruments of financing of operating and investment activities. In addition to the reinvested profit for financing of the companies of holding bank loans and the credits of equipment suppliers actively are utilized. At the same time, if it is about the enterprises which are on initial stage of development, the company often acts as the guarantor on these loans.
