The NSG-54 EtherTAP device is intended for connection of control and measuring and other equipment to these networks both in the traffic coupler mode, and for insert "on pass".
The device has two linear and two measuring ports Ethernet. In the coupler mode (Testing Access Point, TAP) traffic from one line port in another is copied to one of measuring ports, and traffic in the opposite direction - in another. The analyzer with two inputs for detailed monitoring of traffic is connected to measuring ports.
In the mode "on pass" ports are switched in pairs, one linear with one measuring, and all work in both directions. Between measuring ports the analyzer of packets, the content filter, the proxy server or other equipment which is passing through itself all data stream can be switched on.
As smooth functioning of a network backbone under any conditions is to the main requirements to devices of this kind, NSG-54 provides connection to two power sources - to the main and reserve. At a total failure of a power supply or switching off of the device line ports it is transparent are switched at each other at the hardware level. Switching time between the different modes does not exceed 3 ms, i.e. practically does not break network functioning.
The affordable price of NSG-54 allows the telecom operator or the supplier of network services to put in the network necessary number of control inputs in key points of network in advance and to connect to them expensive network analyzers only as required - for elimination of the arising problems or pro-active testing of network. Otherwise the operator had or to keep constantly in network a large number of the analyzers which are switched on "on pass" or every time physically to switch cables, interrupting at the same time rendering services.
Control NSG-54 can be exercised using the Web interface through office port Ethernet as locally, and on network. Besides, the device can be configured through local port USB or using microswitches.
