Cisco Wireless Mesh is the first solution allowing to organize and manage a wireless network of the WiFi standard in city scales. This solution is perfectly scaled and can be used by both separate companies, and city municipalities.
Description
Principal components
- Cisco Aironet 1500 - dual-band Wi-Fi the compatible access point supporting the IEEE 802.11a/b/g standards. Distinctive feature of this access point is support of the Adaptive Wireless Path Protocol protocol which allows to organize dynamic data transmission channels between access points and also to make automatic self-adjustment at topology change of network. Besides, Cisco Aironet 1500 supports all modern protocols of security, including Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2) and also hardware acceleration of enciphering of Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).
- Cisco Wireless Control System is a management system for a wireless network which allows to plan, to configure and perform monitoring of all network of the uniform center that significantly reduces costs on administration and reduces an indicator of total ownership cost. Distinctive features of this system is the built-in system of protection against invasions and also means for tracking and visualization of location of radio-objects in real time.
- Cisco Wireless LAN Controller is key devices in the innovation architecture of creation of big, well scalable wireless networks. Controllers of wireless access which operation is based on the Lightweight Access Point Protocol protocol (LWAPP) perform the majority of the functions inherent in access points of the previous generation. Implementation of security policies, management of a covering of network, setup of access points and implementation of seamless roaming at 2 and 3 levels is among these functions.
Key advantages
- Intellectual wireless routing – the Adaptive Wireless Path Protocol protocol allows to create and manage full-meshed (mesh) networks, thereby providing resistance to noises and failures in network and also significantly reducing costs for implementation and support of network by administrative personnel
- The integrated support of standards 802.11a/b/g – the uniform, economic and simple platform in use for the organization of a "cellular" covering and maximizing network transmission capacity
- The uniform wireless architecture – the network based on the LWAPP protocol provides transparent integration of intra office and extra office segments. Centralized operation by network strongly simplifies administration and reduces costs for highly skilled service staff.
- Lack of need for manual adjustment – controllers of wireless access define existence of access points and make their automatic adjustment for optimal interaction with other parts of network that allows to reduce significantly costs on implementation and to increase fault tolerance of network.
- Secure access out of premises – support of the standard of security 802.11i with additional expansions, such as guest access, allows to enable the realization of the set security policies most flexibly. Hardware acceleration of enciphering of AES provides the highest data protection without degradation of performance.
2013: Cisco Wireless Release 7.5
On August 15, 2013 Cisco announced new, the third for the last year, the version of the multifunction solution Cisco Wireless Release 7.5.
Advantages of innovation
Cisco Wireless Release 7.5 keeps in crucial wireless communication with recovery of wireless connections for fractions of a second and preserving of the previous session state of communication and also with the gigabit performance comparable with a performance of wire communication, new module 802.11ac and a set of other functions.
New software module
Module 802.11ac for Cisco Aironet access points – the industry-first module of a corporate class, ready for orders, and the first officially announced module for access point which underwent certification of Wi-fi Alliance 802.11ac.
Cisco Aironet 700
Access point of Cisco Aironet 700 – compact dual-band wireless access point.
- the double radio module (2.4 GHz and support of 5 GHz) works in two ranges at the same time, for the built-in antennas
- provides the capacity of applications and clients six times higher, unlike traditional networks 802.11a/b/g
Recovery of connections
Recovery of connection with preserving of a status (Client Stateful SwitchOver, SSO) between geographically distributed points: the failsafe architecture of controllers for fractions of a second reestablishes communication without repeated authentication of clients.
