Implementation project of InterSystems TrakCare Lab in the BION kliniko-diagnostic laboratory

The choice of a PIM of InterSystems TrakCare LAB was caused by several reasons. First, the international experience of the InterSystems corporation keeping projects on automation of laboratories in many countries of the world; secondly, an opportunity to work with the large volume of data; thirdly, functional and integration systems capabilities of InterSystems TrakCare LAB. For project implementation the joint project team of specialists of BION and InterSystems was formed, training of specialists of BION, both to basic technologies, and work with a PIM is provided.

During implementation the main production processes were automated (hematology, clinical biochemistry, immunology / serologiya, histology/cytology, etc.). Besides, the basic service processes connected with sending results on e-mail, SMS customer notifications and also with some additional opportunities concerning both processes of registration in laboratory, and internal processes of laboratory are automated. It was succeeded to optimize work on logistics of samples between the laboratory and the medical centers. Especially for BION specialists of InterSystems company developed the unique module of remote registration of samples and viewing results by external customers. Today InterSystems TrakCare Lab is the only laboratory system in the Russian market providing such solution at the industrial level.

BION purchased TrakCare Lab PIM on the subscription model. Originally the customer paid only the cost of works on implementation, and after its termination began to translate monthly InterSystems payment for lease of licenses and maintenance.

The PIM of TrakCare Lab is set on the Proliant DL380G6 server (2 CPU Xeon 5520, RAM 6GB, RAID 0+1 292GB) which works running Windows 2008 OS.

Vladimir Ostrovsky, the project manager on medical information systems of InterSystems branch, noted that this first implementation of InterSystems TrakCare Lab in the centralized laboratory in Russia. "We are happy with project deliverables. This very reliable solution, it is implemented in many countries of the world. We increased a basic basis of a product at the expense of convenient and effective service opportunities and now we will be able to use the gained knowledge and in other projects", – Vladimir added.

Alexander Mamonov, the CEO of the BION kliniko-diagnostic laboratory, added that on it cooperation with InteSystems at laboratory does not come to an end, in plans BIONA to develop new service opportunities, in particular, to solve a major problem on creation of the universal solution for integration of a PIM of InterSystems TrakCare Lab with medical information systems of customers of BION.
