Product
Developers: Quest Software
Last Release Date: January, 2012
Technology: Virtualization

The Quest Software company announced in April, 2011 about Quest vWorkspace exit – MokaFive Suite – VDI solutions for management, protection and delivery of virtual workstations to Windows and Mac, notebooks and the PC. This solution gives the chance to feel advantages of virtualization to the bigger number of users, in particular to members of traditional domains of security and also those who is not always connected to network. The solution allows to increase the level of efficiency and security of the company in general and also allows to use the power of computing resources of the company for ensuring excellent work.

Quest vWorkspace virtually delivers Windows and annexes to any computing device – from iPad, tablets and thin clients to Android, to workstations under Windows and notebooks under Mac OS, providing protection and high quality of work. Addition to Quest vWorkspace – MokaFive Suite allows to use the Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) model that gives the chance to employees to use their personal PCs or Mac and, at the same time to remain in the safe, protected environment. With Quest vWorkspace – MokaFive Suite does not arise compatibility issues of the equipment or restrictions on the reason of graphic distinctions, and can expect support both users of PC, and Mac.

Quest vWorkspace 7.5

The vWorkspace platform in version 7.5 represents the advanced and economic solution for virtualization of desktops, offering the scaling mechanism which expects patenting, direct integration with Hyper-V hypervisor, instant selection of resources and redistribution of loading on service of virtual desktops now. In particular, direct support of Microsoft Hyper-V technology is provided due to inclusion of the free copy of Microsoft Hyper-V Server in the delivery. Deep integration into the Microsoft Hyper-V platform in vWorkspace 7.5 provides control of all stages of lifecycle of virtual desktops from creation, removals, adding and updates before configuration change by the extent of available RAM.

Additional components from the Hyper-V Catalyst series provide the increased scalability of virtual desktops. For example, the modules HyperCache and HyperDeploy reduce number of necessary transactions of input-output by 99% even without additional setup, saving instant selection of the requested virtual work places and RD Session Host host machines (earlier known as Terminal Server) at once for several a host servers. More specifically, the module HyperCache caches often used blocks of a reference image in memory so virtual desktops take the requested data from a disk only when they are not in a cache. The module HyperDeploy allows to select virtual desktops before complete copying of a reference image and also reduces load of network without prejudice to performance.

Additional economy is provided by transparent access to local drives using DAS technology (Direct Access Storage) needlessly in expensive SAN storages. The corporate vWorkspace Instant Provisioning technology provides creation and inclusion of a full-function virtual work place in read seconds.

From other differences of the version of vWorkspace 7.5 it is worth mentioning a full support of local and global networks at the organization of communication via Microsoft applications of Lync/Office Communicator and other VOIP-applications. Support of two-factor authentication for all connectors to the vWorkspace Connectors platform creates the additional security level for the most different client devices. At last, the management console of vWorkspace Management Console provides management of lifecycle of each server of RD Session Host terminals – so the customer gets all advantages full VDI инфрастуруктуры and applies them to the machines RD Session Host. At such approach every image of the server it is created and unrolled in the shortest time without manual operations on service, support and storage.
