vGate is used at the MISIS university for personal data protection

The Code of Security company announces successful product introduction of vGate in National University of Science and Technology " MISIS ", the largest center of the country for training of specialists and development of high technologies in the field of metallurgy and materials science. The project is implemented by specialists of Asteros company, the partner of Code of Security in the Central region of Russia.

The project on implementation of vGate for protection of the virtual infrastructure of MISIS unrolled based on the VMware platform was implemented by specialists of Asteros company in several stages. Originally specialists of the partner company conducted preproject examination of virtual infrastructure of MISIS and also careful audit of security systems of university based on which the following problems of the information security (IS) were selected:

• It is necessary to provide personal data protection from leaks via specific channels of the environment of virtualization;
• Provide control of a configuration and trusted boot of virtual servers;
• Construct process of monitoring and audit of all events of cybersecurity;
• Provide reduction of infrastructure of MISIS in compliance to requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation.

For the solution of all complex of problems of cybersecurity it was selected the product vGate, developments of Code of Security company providing not only reliable personal data protection from virtual environment, but also automatic reduction of virtual infrastructure of MISIS in compliance to requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation.

It should be noted that implementation of vGate according to the solution of specialists of MISIS took place without pilot project, i.e. the product was successfully installed on working infrastructure at once. Work of administrators of virtual infrastructure with vGate was begun right after installation of a product. Thus, vGate began to be used at once by IT specialists of MISIS as the daily working tool for security, audit of settings and creation of the reporting.

On project completion of implementation of vGate in MISIS all initially assigned tasks of cybersecurity were solved and also following features are implemented:

• separation of infrastructure facilities into logical groups and spheres of administration using functions of mandatory and role access control;
• control over changes of security settings on the basis of the set corporate security policies of university is set;
• work of administrators on configuring and operation of a security system is automated;
• Registration of access attempts to infrastructure and also a possibility of creation of the structured reports (about a current status of system configuration of security, about the taken place events and the made changes, about compliance of infrastructure to industry standards, etc.), etc. is implemented.
