EMC Corporation announced in May, 2011 availability of the latest software version of EMC IonixM Server Manager. EMC Ionix Server Manager 3.0 using functions of fast detection "from a cloud and" (so-called Discovery) and the analysis which became possible in this version thanks to integration from vCenter and the comprehensive information about VMware vSwitch expands possibilities of users to manage effectively network and infrastructure of the virtualized data processing center and to eliminate failures to the earth. Thanks to expansion on a virtual network and up to the VM level, automatic detection, the analysis of the prime causes of failures and their influence on business processes of the enterprise, users can instantly and precisely reveal and fix the problems arising in difficult IT infrastructure irrespective of the place of emergence of these problems – in physical and/or virtual environment.
As the companies begin to apply server virtualization to crucial applications, permanent creation of new VM, their movement and use of a virtual network becomes a source of new problems for managers of data processing centers which need to reveal and eliminate failures in infrastructure. The same way, "clouds" because of the flexible and dynamic infrastructure require the new management tools and analyses focused on work with quickly changing system. In the virtualized communication data processing center between physical and virtual infrastructure also become a potential source of problems. Still two different types of tools of the analysis were used to the analysis of physical and virtual environments that significantly limited possibilities of IT specialists in elimination of problems and to management of similar infrastructure. EMC Ionix Server Manager 3.0 cardinally changes a situation and implements complex approach to management of the virtualized DPC.
EMC Ionix Server Manager 3.0:
- Makes automatic detection of the virtual switchboards VMware vSwitch on the ESX® servers and monitors their work;
- Performs detection and monitoring of cluster designs (it is actually one more type of virtualization of server resources), including Microsoft Cluster Services (MSCS), Symantec Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) and BigIP F5 LoadBalancer;
- Supports Microsoft Hyper-V in addition to VMware of ESX;
- Keeps track of availability of key application services;
- Reveals decline in production of components of servers (using integration into regular monitors of the server hardware of IBM, HP, Dell and Oracle).
For Server Manager it is required to use Ionix Service Assurance Manager and Ionix IP Availability Manager at the same time.
