About the Project
The warehouse is in the territory of "Lianozovsky Dairy Plant" (LDP) and processes products of LMK, Tsaritsyno dairy plant, Plant of children's dairy products and other enterprises of Wimm-Bill-Dann company.
Daily on a warehouse about 2,500 t of dairy products arrive. Products from "Lianozovsky Dairy Plant" in number of 1500 t arrive on a warehouse on the pipeline integrated with WMS. The area of the distribution center of plant is more than 18,000 sq.m, the volume of storage of goods – more than 22,000 paleto-places. Complete turnover of a warehouse – about 5 days. In the distribution center functioning round the clock 500 employees work, in each working shift in an information system about 100 people work. For such large object with the complex organization of processes the choice of the WMS system was of particular importance. "As our own practice showed, not each warehouse management system can cope with a continuous flow of transactions – it demands from it broad functionality and the accumulated operating experience – Leonid Kompaniyets, the director of production of JSC Wimm-Bill-Dann told. – In addition to these criteria, there were some more requirements reflecting specifics of production and storage of perishable products which make the main part of the goods which are stored in a warehouse. Making the choice, we relied on experience of the largest global manufacturers of goods of the class FMCG and food, and calculated that use of the best specialized software products what Manhattan Associates’ ILS is, will only allow to strengthen our leading positions in the Russian market".
Transactions in a warehouse
VBD – a big object with complex processes therefore implementations of WMS it was very important for the company. The main goal was to provide the continuous course of 24/7 transactions. To a system strict requirements were made. First of all the client was interested in functionality of a system and experience of implementations and operation.
In the dairy industry there are increased requirements to product quality. A system maintains the principle of FEFO (First Expired First Out) according to which goods with an expiration date of not less set date are shipped.
The most part of goods – brittle therefore a system completes combined pallets taking into account fragility of goods. For this WMS creates the sequence of tasks so that more fragile goods lay on the national team you scorch above and did not break the weight packaging below the located goods. At selection the stacker should not think in what sequence to complete to a pallet: a system solved this problem for it.
WMS was integrated with the ERP system (the self-written system of the client) and with the transport system and also with the system of accounting of finished product output implemented by specialists of Corus Consulting. Such integration in many respects became possible thanks to a technology platform of .NET on which the Manhattan Associates' ILS system facilitating its integration into any external applications is implemented.
