2025: The volume of the insurance market in Kyrgyzstan for the year increased to $38 billion
At the end of 2025, the insurance market of Kyrgyzstan reached 3.33 trillion soms ($38 billion) in the total insurance amount of the concluded contracts. The data was published by the Financial Supervision Service of the Republic on February 16, 2026.
The number of concluded contracts almost doubled, reaching 3.2 million. The compulsory insurance segment showed an increase of 185%. Voluntary insurance accounted for 2.17 trillion soms, compulsory - 1.16 trillion soms.
The volume of collected insurance premiums increased by 94.3% - to 10.076 billion soms. Voluntary insurance brought 6.933 billion soms, mandatory - 3.143 billion soms. Property insurance (36%) is the leader in the structure of premiums, followed by compulsory insurance (32%), personal (28%) and liability insurance (4%). The share of life insurance is minimal - less than 0.01%.
The largest growth in premiums was shown by compulsory (+ 262%), personal (+ 150%) and property (+ 34%) insurance. Liability insurance premiums decreased by 6%.
The volume of insurance payments increased by 55%, to 1.387 billion soms. The main share (57.8%) falls on property insurance, 26.6% - on compulsory, 14.2% - on personal, 1.4% - on liability insurance.
There are 19 insurance and reinsurance organizations on the market, of which 14 are with 100% Kyrgyz capital. The total assets of the sector grew by 9%, to 13.8 billion soms, equity - by 12.7%. Net profit amounted to 1.22 billion soms, tax deductions - 340.8 million soms. Return on assets (ROA) rose to 8.82%, capital (ROE) to 18.55%.
The volume of premiums transferred to reinsurance increased by 14.1% - to 1.71 billion soms. The growth of reinsurance within the republic amounted to 13.7%. The investment portfolio of insurers is 66.6% formed from bank deposits. Government securities account for 13.8%, real estate - 8.5%, loans with collateral - 6.6%.[1][2]
2024: Kyrgyzstan's insurance market doubled over the year to 1.3 billion soms
The profit of insurance companies in Kyrgyzstan in 2024 doubled and amounted to 1.3 billion soms (≈ ₽1,18 billion) compared to 2023. According to the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the total income of insurance organizations reached 7.2 billion soms (≈ ₽6,56 billion), which is almost double the results of 2023. 16 insurance companies worked in the financial market of the republic, showing a significant increase in the main financial indicators. The data was published in May 2025.
The bulk of the income of insurance organizations - 72.5% - were insurance premiums. The industry's expenses also increased, increasing 1.8 times to 6 billion soms (≈ ₽5,47 billion). The total volume of insurance premiums for 2024 amounted to 5.2 billion soms (≈ ₽4,74 billion), which is 70% more than in 2023. The largest increase is observed under contracts of voluntary property insurance and personal insurance against accidents and diseases.
In 2024, 1.7 million insurance contracts were concluded, which is three times more than 2023. Of these, 93% were registered for individuals, 7% - for legal entities.
The most popular types of insurance were voluntary personal insurance against accidents and diseases - 63% of all concluded contracts, compulsory insurance of civil property - 15%, compulsory insurance of motor liability amounted to about 13% of the total number of contracts.
During the year, 22.5 thousand insurance claims were registered, more than half of which - 54% - related to voluntary insurance against accidents and diseases. The total volume of insurance payments amounted to approximately 783 million soms (≈ ₽713 million).
The structure of insurance payments was distributed as follows: 68% was directed to voluntary property insurance, 9% - to personal medical insurance, 5% each were payments for compulsory insurance of motor liability and compulsory insurance of civil property.[3]
