2022: Forbes: 10 highest paid athletes in the world

In mid-May 2022, Forbes published a rating of the highest paid athletes in the world.

  • The first place was taken by Lionel Messi. The fortune of striker Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is estimated at $130 million. Of which $75 million is paid, and $55 million is earned from sponsorship and advertising agreements.

  • The second place was taken by the famous basketball player LeBron James with an income of $121.2 million. Of which $41.2 million is paid, and $80 million is earned from sponsorship and advertising agreements.

  • Third place forward Manchester United Cristiano Ronaldo with earnings of $115 million. Of which $60 million is salary, and $55 million is income from sponsorship and advertising agreements.

  • Fourth place Neymar, Brazilian footballer, striker, winger and attacking midfielder of the French club PSG and the national team of Brazil with earnings of $95 million. Of which $70 million is salary, and $25 million is income from sponsorship and advertising agreements.

  • Fifth place Stefen Curry, an American professional basketball player who plays for the Golden State Warriors National Basketball Association team and the US national team with $92.8 million in earnings. Of which $45.8 million is paid, and $47 million is earned from sponsorship and advertising agreements.

  • Sixth place is Kevin Durant, an American professional basketball player who plays for the Brooklyn Nets National Basketball Association team and the US national team, in which he won the gold of the World Cup and the Olympic Games with an income of $92.1 million. Of which $42.1 million is paid, and $50 million is earned from sponsorship and advertising agreements.

  • Seventh place Roger Federer, Swiss professional tennis player, former first racket of the world in singles with earnings of $90.7 million. Of which $0.7 million is paid, and $90 million is earned from sponsorship and advertising agreements.

  • The eighth place Saul Alvares, the Mexican professional boxer acting in light-middleweight, first average in average, in second average and in semi-heavy weight categories.
