History
2016: RVC, IIDF and Skolkovo Foundation invest in the Crimean startups
In April, 2016 in the Crimea enrollment in school of startups Frigate of Accelerator was announced. As organizers the Crimean IT Cluster and the Sevastopol branch Lomonosov Moscow State University with assistance of the Russian venture capital company, the Fund of Development of Internet Initiatives (FDII), the ITMO University, a federal accelerator of GenerationS and the Scientific park of MSU acted.
On May 19, 2016 within the competition "Startup Frigate" announced by school selection a startup projects will begin. The best team will be able to receive grants on development of own business at the rate from 200 thousand to several million rubles. Winners of competition with guarantee become participants of the selection round of the federal tender GenerationS, largest in Eastern Europe, held by Russian Venture Capital Company (RVCC). This year the best Crimean startups will be able to pass an initial step of tender, passing a stage of primary selection.
Tender "the Startup" will take place the Frigate six weeks based on two educational platforms created by Crimean IT Cluster association. In Sevastopol it is a startup center Frigate based on MSU branch, and in Simferopol - the Softwarium IT center. In the first round about hundred startups capable in short terms to become ready business projects will be selected.
Four large innovation funds act as partners of the Crimean educational project:
- RVC, public foundation of funds
- Internet Initiatives Development Fund
- Fund of assistance to small forms of the enterprises in the scientific and technology sphere
- Skolkovo Foundation (confirmed participation in April, 2016).
Also among partners of tender - the St. Petersburg National research university of information technologies, mechanics and optics (ITMO University) and the Scientific park of MSU.
