The revenue of the Russian subsidiary UnionPay for 2023 increased by 29% and reached 278.7 million rubles. The net profit of Unionpei LLC increased by 16.8%, to 103.4 million rubles. Such data in accordance with Russian accounting standards (RAS) were published at the end of March 2024.

Other expenses in 2023 decreased by 23.7%, to 98.2 million rubles. The volume of assets of the Russian subsidiary UnionPay in 2023 increased by 9.5%, to 398.5 million rubles.

It also follows from the company's reports that by the end of 2023, Unionpei LLC employed 15 people, which is one more employee than a year earlier.

As of the end of 2023, UnionPay is the only international payment system that continues to operate in Russia. It provides the ability to use cards in 183 countries around the world. However, UnionPay does not work with banks that have come under blocking sanctions.[1]

2017: UnionPay overtakes Visa and Mastercard in global payment card market

2015: UnionPay overtakes Visa in terms of card payments

UnionPay, which became the world's largest payment system in terms of the number of cards in 2010, overtook Visa in 2015 in terms of card payments (according to RBR's analytical review Global Payment Cards Data and Forecasts to 2021) [5].

In 2015, the number of payment cards in the world increased by 8%, reaching 13 billion.
