Citrix ShareFile is a secure enterprise file synchronization and sharing solution that supports hybrid architectures. Thus, synchronization and usage functions are provided as a service, and enterprise files can be located in ShareFile storage, in third-party clouds, or locally (using Citrix ShareFile StorageZone).
Citrix ShareFile meets the requirements of today's mobile business and protects synchronization and sharing of enterprise files. It integrates with Core Leak Prevention Systems (DLP) and protects data with Access Rights Management (IRM) during data movement. ShareFile offers users a business-class data exchange service for all enterprise and personal mobile devices, supports local and cloud deployment, while IT retains full control over transmitted and stored data.
2023: U.S. authorities warn of holes in Citrix software. Because of them, hackers can easily steal company data
On August 16, 2023, the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Agency (CISA) reported that network attackers were attacking enterprises through vulnerabilities in Citrix software. Holes, among other things, allow you to steal confidential information.
One of the problems is described in the CVE-2023-24489 bulletin of June 13, 2023. The flaw is related to the ShareFile tool for file sharing and collaboration. The vulnerable component is a ShareFile storage zone controller managed by the client. If the hole is successfully exploited, an unauthenticated attacker can remotely compromise the victim's system and steal data.
The issue has a CVSS score of 9.1 out of 10, suggesting its severity. A fix for the bug has been released, but as of mid-August 2023, not all corporate users have downloaded the update. The developer interacts with clients to fix the vulnerability.
A dangerous CVE-2023-3519 error is also reported that affects the Citrix NetScaler network tool. The flaw allows an attacker to execute arbitrary program code on the victim's system. Cybercriminals are actively exploiting this hole, with eight of the ten most affected countries in Europe. At the same time, the intensity of attacks in Russia, as noted, was at a minimum level. The developer has released a fix for the vulnerability. However, information security experts warn that even fixed instances of NetScaler may still contain a backdoor. Therefore, system administrators are strongly encouraged to check their infrastructures for malware - regardless of when the update was downloaded.[1]
2017: Google and Citrix integrate products to enable cloud-based app delivery
Google and Citrix in July announced the expansion of their multi-year strategic relationship. Companies have joined forces to provide cloud-based application and desktop delivery capabilities, as well as secure cloud workplaces for those who need to secure their digital work environment while deploying hybrid and public cloud technologies.
Customers will be able to use Citrix Cloud to create a secure work environment, including Citrix Workspace Service based on the Google Cloud Platform.
At the same time, Citrix ShareFile is integrated with Google G Suite, which will allow customers to constantly have access to all data using various solutions for the Citrix work environment. The ShareFile plugin allows you to securely share files via Gmail and ShareFile with Google Drive and provides users with one common storage for all documents.
In addition, Citrix NetScaler CPX is now available in Google Cloud. It is expected to appear in Google Cloud Launcher by the end of the quarter. The use of containerization technology and the Kubernetes management system in Google Cloud will allow developers to use NetScaler CPX to create and scale secure applications in cloud environments.
"We are further expanding our partnership with Citrix and empowering enterprise customers to move to the cloud by managing IT services on the Google Cloud Platform through the Citrix Cloud service," said Nan Boden, Google Cloud Director of Global Technology Partnerships. "Our collaboration with Citrix will help companies of any type accelerate their transition to the cloud, including the desktop infrastructure and applications they use."
With Citrix Cloud services integrated with Google Cloud, Google customers will be able to add virtual applications and desktops based on Google Cloud and use them in conjunction with the G Suite.
