The Khakass republican children's library is founded in 1936 as city children's library.
The fund of library made 500 copies. It occupied one room in 16 sq.m in Recreation center. One librarian worked.
History
1976 - The staff of library was increased up to 29 people, from them - 22 library employees
1992 - The library received the status of republican children's library
1996 - The library rents the additional premises on Yarygin St., 20. The total area of library began to be 477 sq.m
2003 - The sector of national and local history literature which in 2008 is transformed to independent department is open
2006 - The premises on Yarygin St., 20, are transferred to library to free use. The museum "Library — Our Life" is organized
2008 - the sector of local history and national literature is transformed to department.
2011 - it is renamed into State budgetary institution of culture of the Republic of Khakassia "Khakass republican children's library", the reduced name: GBUK RKH "Khakass RDB".
