BT Group (formerly British Telecommunications plc or British Telecom plc) (LSE: BT.A, NYSE: BT) is a British telecommunications company, operator of the telephone network, produces operations and customer service around the world. Provides fixed and cellular (mobile) services, Internet access, many additional services for enterprises and individuals, for example, voice mail, teleconference, web conference.
BT comprises 5 main divisions: BT Global Services, BT Business, BT Consumer, BT Wholesale and Openreach. In the financial year ending 31 March 2014, BT Group had revenues of £18,287 million and a profit before tax of £2,312 million.

French billionaire Patrick Drahi increases stake in company to 24.5%
French billionaire entrepreneur Patrick Drahi in May 2023 increased his stake in BT Group Plc to 24.5% from about 18%, strengthening control of the London-based telecoms giant.
However, Altice UK, which added 650 million shares in the last purchase, has no intention of making an offer to buy all of BT, it said in a statement.
Plan to cut 42% of employees by 2030
Telecoms giant BT announced in May 2023 that it plans to cut up to 42% (up to 75,000 people) of its workforce by 2030.
2020: BT and Vodafone need 5 years and billions to ditch Huawei equipment
In mid-July 2020, BT and Vodafone told British lawmakers that it would take them at least five years to replace equipment from China's Huawei if the government bans the company's products from 5G mobile networks. Read more here.
