2023: Launch of 5G network in Baku
On February 1, 2023, Bakcell announced the launch of a 5G network in Azerbaijan. It has become available to residents of several districts of Baku - in particular, you can use the technology on Fontanov Square (19 G.Z. Tagizade St.), in the Hagani Garden (Molokan Garden) and in the Deniz Mall.
The press service of Bakcell reports that to connect to the 5G network, the operator's subscribers need a smartphone from Huawei, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Poco and Vivo. If the subscriber's device supports 5G technology, 5GB of free 5G traffic will be loaded onto the balance of the mobile number. This traffic can be used in 5G test zones, for 1 hour.
The corresponding smartphones Apple Samsung and can be connected to the 5G network in Azerbaijan only with the permission of the manufacturer. After obtaining the appropriate software permissions, the devices will be updated and connected to the 5G network, the operator's website says in the "Frequently Asked Questions" section. |
According to the Bakcell website, by the beginning of February 2023, a 5G network deployed in Baku provides Internet surfing at a speed of more than 1 Gbps. At the same time, the operator promises to continue work to increase speed. The company attributed the other advantages of its 5G network to connecting devices to it without delay, as well as the simultaneous access of thousands of devices during mass events.
