2023: Delisting statement from NYSE exchange

In January 2023, China's two largest state-owned airlines said they would drop their listing on the New York Stock Exchange, joining a raft of state-controlled companies that announced their retirement from U.S. exchanges last year.

China Eastern Airlines Corp. and China Southern Airlines said in separate documents Jan. 13 that they intended to apply for voluntary delisting of their American depositary shares listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The companies attributed their decision to commercial factors, including the cost of maintaining a U.S. listing despite fewer shares and trading volumes in the U.S. compared to Hong Kong.
