2023: Opening of the Institute

On the basis of Sevastopol State University (SevSU) in May 2023, the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Health Saving was opened. This is the first medical university in the city.

According to TASS, citing the director of the institute, Dmitry Kadochnikov, SevSU received a license to train doctors and nurses in November 2022. The government of Sevastopol has allocated a grant for the targeted training of 50 doctors. A tripartite agreement will be concluded between the university, the health department and the student, under which graduates will be required to work for five years in a state institution.

The university will present a bachelor's degree (directions: "nursing," "recreation and sports and health tourism," "physical education for people with disabilities in health") and specialties ("medical business" - in Russian and English; "medical biophysics," "medical cybernetics").

According to TASS in the Department of Health of Sevastopol, the following specialists remain especially in demand in the city by May 2023: pediatricians, therapists, oncologists, otorhinolaryngologists, doctors - children's oncologists, hematologists. Medical staffing is: doctors - more than 6%, nurses - more than 78%, junior medical personnel - more than 85%.

Earlier, the only profile medical college named after Zhenya Deryugina was engaged in the training of medical personnel in Sevastopol. Subsequently, SevSU received a license for specialties in the areas of medical biophysics, medical cybernetics, medical care. Students will be able to start classes at the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Health Saving from September 2023. In the coming years, the Institute plans to license several more medical areas of training, as well as the opening of its own residency, according to the TASS publication of May 18, 2023.[1]
